Was Prof. Obama any better than Senator Obama?

The New York Times political blog has unearthed some of Mr. Obama’s old class materials: the syllabus and assignments for his “Racism and the Law" seminar. There are some anecdotes recounted throughout the article that may be worth reading.  According to this article there is not much depth or accomplishments when he was a professor either....You wonder "where is the beef" when it comes to Obama? Here are just some of the comments from the article

  • While most colleagues published by the pound, he never completed a single work of legal scholarship
  • He was also an enigmatic one, often leaving fellow faculty members guessing about his precise views. ( I guess nothing is changed there, he does not have a precise view even now!)
  • In his 2001 class on race, he imitated the way clueless white people talked. “Why are your friends at the housing projects shooting each other?” he asked in a mock-innocent voice.
  • And Mr. Obama, in turn, could play the star. Like every professor, he spun out elaborate hypothetical cases, but in what even some fans saw as a sign of self-absorption, Mr. Obama’s occasionally featured himself. “Take Barack Obama, there’s a good-looking guy,” he would say. (His arrogance still shines)
  • Mr. Obama has never published any. He was too busy, but also, Mr. Epstein believes, he was unwilling to put his name to anything that could haunt him politically, as Ms. Guinier’s writings had hurt her. “He figured out, you lay low,” Mr. Epstein said.  (this is exactly what he is doing now, not taking any firm stand on any issue!)

Obama's facts?! made up

Obama just throws statements out there hoping no reporter will dare to do some fact checking . However, there is one reporter who actually does his job well. Jack Tapper is asking, did Obama say during the debate over the Surge that "There's No Doubt that Additional U.S. Troops Could Temporarily Quell the Violence?". Read his complete post here.

Obama candidacy is a perfect marketing package

"Just tell me one thing Barack Obama has done that you admire," I asked a prominent Democrat. He paused and then said that he admired Obama's speech to the Democratic convention in 2004. I agreed. It was a hell of a speech, but it was just a speech.
.
.
The question I posed to that prominent Democrat was just my way of thinking out loud. I know that Barack Obama is a near-perfect political package. I'm still not sure, though, what's in it.

Why Obama doesn't like Townhall meetings?

This is what Obama said yesteday on "Meet The Press":

OBAMA: Well, here's the thing, I mean, listen, I, I, I think—I can say a little something about debates since I had 22 of them in, in the Democratic primary. I don't know how many John had. At a certain point, they become, I think, less of a serious exchange of ideas and rather they have—they become competing talking points or, or press releases. I, I think it's important for us to have some hard-hitting debates. I think it's also important for us to spend time talking to the voters directly, and that's what I intend to do.

Well, aren't Townhall meetings a direct conversation with public??

Obama-ism

The gaffes Barack Obama has committed would have crushed the typical Republican politician. But the reporters who can't get over Dan Quayle's misspelling of "potato" have little to say about their man's slip-ups.
Get yourself educated about Obama-ism, because you need a different skills to really get what he is talking about....Read more in Investor's Business Daily.  But watch this first:

Obama’s mind is as foggy as his language

"Obama’s vague language is the product of an unrealistic mind. He denies the reality of conflict — and flinches from the obligations of self-defense. Obama has risen to power by using a soothing cloud of meaningless words to conceal displeasing truths and avoid difficult choices. His more worldly supporters will quietly whisper that Obama thinks more incisively than his speeches suggest. Let’s hope so. Yet the speech in Berlin should cause us all to wonder: Maybe Obama’s mind really is as foggy as his language."

Quote of the week:
Obama has benefited from a week of good images. But substantively, optimism without reality isn’t eloquence. It’s just Disney.

Obama , why lie about languages?

Barack Obama in March 2006: I speak “Indonesian and a little Spanish.”

Obama on July 8, 2008: "It’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beaucoup."

Obama on July 11, 2008: "I don’t speak a foreign language. It’s embarrassing!"

Obama today: "My German is not real good [...] I can speak Bahasi Indonesian but I don't think...there would be a lot of appeal to that."

Obama's speech full of false statements..

Obama's Berlin speech was a beginning of his campaign to be the president of Earth ( I am citizen of the world?!).  While media is falling in love with each word, it's time to see how how factual his statements were.  Well, I am glad blogger, Don Surber, took the time to do just that.  I will just mention a couple here:

Obama: The poverty and violence in Somalia breeds the terror of tomorrow.

But 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis. None were poor kids from Somalia. Actually the master mind of of 9/11  was educated in Germany.  Osama bin Laden is the son of a wealthy Saudi contractor.

Obama: And despite past differences, this is the moment when the world should support the millions of Iraqis who seek to rebuild their lives, even as we pass responsibility to the Iraqi government and finally bring this war to a close.

But Obama wanted to abandon Iraq by March 31, 2008 and if he was the president, America would have ended the war in defeat!

UPDATE: More factchecks from McCain camp.  Read here

UPDATE II: More false statement found in the speech:

Obama: "Not only have walls come down in Berlin, but they have come down in Belfast, where Protestant and Catholic found a way to live together."

"Ten years after peace was declared in Northern Ireland, one might have expected that Belfast's barriers would be torn down by now. But reality, as usual, is far messier. Not one has been dismantled. Instead they've grown in both size and number."

Obama's illusions?

Oh! not again! Obama makes up stuff as he goes along and acts like nothing is wrong. This is what Obama said in Israel:

Hmmm....which deeds is he talking about? Which Committee? And why did he lie about his role in the "passage" of  legislation? Can we even trust the media to ask follow-ups anymore?
" For him to fabricate the claim, out of whole cloth, that the Senate Banking Committee is "[his] committee," strikes me as another sign of Obama's megalomania. That, plus more evidence that he is totally at sea without a teleprompter."

Obama's Gaffe Galore!

It's funny to see Media is going after McCain for his gaffes this week while Obama has been bestowing upon us gaffes on daily basis. This is the best one yet. Thanks Paul for emailing to me.
"Well let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's," he said, according to a transcript of the press conference.
He said this during his press conference in Amman, Jordan. I guess, Israelites are ecstatic about this announcement.  Can you imagine if McCain had said this?  it would have been blamed to his age, but with St. Barry, it's because he is a bit tired!    Link

And what about this comment?
The next meeting was with Knesset member/Likud Party Chair Benjamin Netanyahu, who asked Obama how he was feeling. "I could fall asleep standing up," Obama said, according to Bloomberg News' Tel Aviv correspondent Jonathan Ferziger
Can you imagine if McCain had said this?

Obama and his training-wheels campaign

Barry still need his training wheels,  and needs more babysitters now  than ever before.  This time around his baby-sitters are journalists, news paper publishers and editors and his 300 foreign policy advisors.

Here is from Pajamasmedia

"Obama had a rocky week before his overseas trip. He settled on a unique approach to national security: shoot first and ask questions later."

"For all intents and purposes Obama was play-acting the role of a traveling statesman, eating meals and smiling but doing and saying nothing of consequence with what veteran network correspondent Mitchell described on Hardball as an unprecedented level of press restriction and manipulation."

Barry, it's time to grow up if you want to play grown up game!
Oh! and if  you wonder if he has learned anything from his trip, Political Punch asked Obama the same question and this is what he reports:
"So Obama learned a few things -- all of which reaffirmed his already established views. Nothing that changed his mind about anything."
Go figure!

Obama:Had those political factors not occurred, I think that my assessment would have been correct

Can you really make sense of this sentence? this is what he said today to ABCNews,  "Had those political factors not occurred, I think that my assessment would have been correct."   Obama has based his candidacy on his judgment and now he has nothing to show for it and he will not admit his lack of judgment.

Read the whole ABC blog:
"I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence" in Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, said in January 2007. "In fact, I think it will do the reverse."

In Baghdad yesterday, after a day spent witnessing the reduction in violence in Iraq, Obama was asked by ABC News' Terry Moran if he was wrong..

"Here is what I will say," Obama said, "I think that, I did not anticipate, and I think that this is a fair characterization, the convergence of not only the surge but the Sunni awakening in which a whole host of Sunni tribal leaders decided that they had had enough with Al Qaeda, in the Shii’a community the militias standing down to some degrees. So what you had is a combination of political factors inside of Iraq that then came right at the same time as terrific work by our troops.
Had those political factors not occurred, I think that my assessment would have been correct."
And he continues to say more stupid things:
If you had to do it over again, Moran asked, knowing what you know now, would you support the surge?

"No," Obama said. "These kinds of hypotheticals are very difficult. Hindsight is 20/20. But I think that what I am absolutely convinced of is at that time we had to change the political debate because the view of the Bush administration at that time was one that I just disagreed with and one that I continue to disagree with is to look narrowly at Iraq and not focus on these broader issues."

Obama has a crush on Obama.

Boston.com has summed Obama's narcissism pretty well, I just hope people will see it before going to the polls:

"McCain's humility comes through in his book, "Faith of my Fathers," which he wrote at age 63, after completing a career in the US Navy and moving onto politics. Obama wrote the more self-reverential "Dreams from My Father," after he was elected president of the Harvard Law Review."

"There's no such thing as a humble politician. But when Obama looks into the mirror, he doesn't just see a president; he sees JFK."

"Obama finds criticism of his wife "infuriating" and doesn't want either of them to be the target of satire. Tell that to the Carters, the Reagans, the Clintons, and the Bushes, father and son." Read on

King Obama bows to NO ONE!

This bit of information in the interview Obama's senior advisor gave to Spiegel is so revealing of Obama's candidacy.

SPIEGEL: Critics say the trip is nothing but a PR stunt to strengthen his foreign-policy credentials and that he has only rarely been to Europe before.

Rice: Senator Obama has travelled to Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia many times before. He lived in Asia. He bows to nobody in his understanding of this world.
Nobody! wow...We are all witnessing the making of the first American King.  He will bow to no one not even to American people?!

Obama wants to be president for 10 years!!

From ABC blog:
"Today on CBS's Face the Nation, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in Afghanistan, told the paparazzi-pursued correspondent Lara Logan that "the objective of this trip was to have substantive discussions with people like President Karzai or Prime Minister Maliki or President Sarkozy or others who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years."
Either this will be considered his biggest gaffe, or it means the Audacity of his arrogance is beyond our comprehension.  Does he wants to change the 22 amendment to accomplish extra 2 years in office?hmmm.. I think he needs to fire his 300 foreign policy advisors, since they did not teach him that he can only be a 2 term president!

How many more stupid mistakes can he make before we can call him the stupid candidate?

Remember his comment about "divided Jerusalem" ?

Remember his comment about women getting abortion when "feeling blue"?

What about 57 states, liberation of Auschwitz, Hiroshima, babies as a burden, kansas tornado, state geography and on and on? How many more will media tolerate until they call him not fit for presidency?

Weekend reads and laughs

Krauthammer's article in Washington Post on Obama: For the first few months of the campaign, the question about Obama was: Who is he? The question now is: Who does he think he is?

Are the media airbrushing Obama’s speeches? Must watch the videos .

The American Thinker blogs: "Obama's narcissism swells to global proportions even as the American voters are beginning to notice something very fishy about this rookie from Illinois. Barack's triumphal European victory lap, four months before the American election, doesn't pass the smell test either, and the premature Hosannas by the liberal newsies confirms what our noses are telling us."

How to make fun of Obama: "Since the New Yorker dropped a bum joke on its cover this week, comedians have appeared on every news outlet to whine about how hard it is to make fun of Barack Obama. Really? They have an arsenal of jokes to use against a 71-year-old ex-POW cancer survivor and Obama is too touchy a subject?"

His platitudes need deconstruction. "We are the people we've been waiting for"? Actually, I'm pretty sure we're the people who put all our money in Yahoo and then bought a house to flip and now are hocking everything we have. We're the people China has been waiting for.

Obama's 300

You must read Jennifer Rubin's blog today:
Barack Obama has 300 advisors on foreign policy. What?? That includes the Winnie-the Poohfellow and 299 other “experts” who, we are led to believe, didn’t catch Obama’s “syntax” error on “undivided Jerusalem.” Did not one of the 300 know about the history of presidential summitry? And none of them thought it might have saved a heap of trouble for Obama if once during his primary campaign he had a briefing with General Petraeus or trip to Iraq?
I guess he is really found of bureaucracy! or he indeed needs lot of people to script a foreign policy so there is no room for a gaffe.

Obama's paid staff=2000 people

The kingdom of Obama is larger than Bush's currently whole White House staff!!! Can you imagine that?

Obama recently told reporters, "I've never been a big entourage guy. … And that takes some getting used to."

"A paid staff of 2,000 is unheard of in the history of presidential elections. Consider that it's five times larger than Bush's campaign staff in 2004, which is the next biggest ever assembled. Indeed, Obama will have more people working on his campaign than President Bush currently has in the whole White House. And if Obama spends like this when he needs to raise the money himself, one can only imagine what he'll do when he can instead tap the tax coffers of the U.S. Treasury. "

H/T:Weekly Standard Blog

UPDATE: In addition Obama has 300 foreign policy advisors according to Herald Tribune. It goes on to say that,"300-person foreign policy campaign bureaucracy, organized like a mini State Department, to assist a candidate whose limited national security experience remains a concern to many voters.

UPDATEII:  More on 300 here

Obama a "johhny-come-lately positions"

Here is another example that Obama is just an empty suit and nothing to show...so sad!

But Biden's letter brought attention to the fact that Obama did not attend two of those three hearings -- and for the third, on March 8, 2007, Obama only asked one question, one unrelated to Afghanistan.

How do I know the latter fact? From an August 2007 press release from Biden himself, when he was running for president.

"BIDEN CAMPAIGN CONGRATULATES SEN. OBAMA FOR JOHNNY-COME-LATELY POSITION," it read. Noting that at the March 2007 hearing, "Sen. Obama asked one question that was unrelated to Taliban or Afghanistan.

Obama's thinking a week after 9/11

Obama wrote an op-ed piece in a local Chicago newspaper, a week after 9/11  "explaining" the reason behind 9/11.  Here is a quote:
"We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate; nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity. It may find expression in a particular brand of violence, and may be channeled by particular demagogues or fanatics. Most often, though, it grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.” source
This is a guy who think terrorism can be dealt with with more "education". Well, almost everyone  of the 9/11 terrorists on were highly "educated".

Michelle Malkin has a great piece today on the same subject:
There’s plenty of evidence out there that the most extreme ‘extremists’ are those who’ve been most exposed to the west - and western education: from Osama bin Laden (summer school at Oxford, punting on the Thames) and Mohammed Atta (Hamburg University urban planning student) to the London School of Economics graduate responsible for the beheading of Daniel Pearl. The idea that handing out college scholarships to young Saudi males and getting them hooked on Starbucks and car-chase movies will make this stuff go away is ridiculous - and unworthy of a serious presidential candidate.

Is Obama smart enough?

After all the gaffes, false ads, lies and over exaggerations from Obama, I am wondering,  is he smart enough to lead? Apparently he does not know the job description of "Joint Chief Of Staff".  Well, CNN's Situation Room played a clip of Obama saying this about his plan for Iraq:

BARACK OBAMA: I'm going to call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and give them a new mission, and that is to bring the war in Iraq to a close.  We are going to get out.

I hope before he gets elected someone will advise him that  The Joint Chiefs of Staff does not have operational command of U.S. military forces.  Weekly Standard blog had this to say:

"I know Obama is a student of military matters and intellectually voracious, so it is thus rather stunning that he would betray such ignorance regarding the way the military actually functions. In truth, the Joint Chiefs are not part of the chain of command. Indeed, they are specifically by statute not part of the chain of command but instead serve solely in an advisory capacity to the president."
Well if he was smart or accomplished enough, he would not have the need to exaggerate his resume!  Jennifer Rubin writes
"If resume fraud were a crime, Obama would be looking at fifteen to life. And it is not just an isolated incident or two. He is a repeat offender."

Obama & New Yorker

Oh no! finally a cartoon that captures the whole of Obama's candidacy!
Link to the article.

Too bad they did not ask him to recite the Quran. Remember this article from New York Times, from last year (3/16/07)?
"In a free-ranging interview with the New York Times, Obama described the Muslim call to prayer as ‘one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.’ The Times's Nicholos Kristof wrote, Obama recited, ‘with a first-class [Arabic] accent,’ the opening lines of the Muslim call to prayer. "

Obama & languages

Obama commented regarding his "embarrassing" comment with this, “I know because I don’t speak a foreign language. It’s embarrassing!” he said.

But why did he lie? he does speak Arabic apparently according to New York Times, and he recites Quran!

Obamas the snobs!

"So Michelle Obama has never been proud to be American before now, and Barack Obama just said yesterday, in his typical smug style, that he thinks Americans should be embarassed if they only speak English.  This is our next First Couple?  Aren't they campaigning for the White House of the United States of America?"

5 Reasons obama "embarrassing" Foreign language remark will haunt him. Link.

(1) Obama speaks no foreign languages himself.
(2) Obama has now invited "journalists" to investigate his Indonesian school record.
(3) Obama has also invited the foreign press (where, possibly, real journalists still reside) to conduct his European press conferences in French or German.
(4) Obama has drawn unwanted attention to his support of Bush's failed No Child Left Behind policy
(5) Obama has once again made it clear that HE, not McCain, is BUSH-3.

UPDATE: Obama's frequent regrets may make us sorry. Read on.
The usual hot air that Washington politicians seem to have made their own. Mr Obama is no different. We’re just too politically correct to say that the only thing refreshing about him is his colour. So we say he’s “bipartisan”, or he’s a “uniter”.

Obama forgets he is still a Senator from Illinois!

Sometimes a slip of a tongue can say a lot. Here in the AP report, obama comments about how people reacted to his Iraq stand by saying, :
"I'm surprised at how finely calibrated every single word was measured. I wasn't saying anything I hadn't said before, that I didn't say a year ago or when I was a United States senator," said Obama, who is still a senator from Illinois.
Well at least media is paying more attention. Did he really forget what he is? or in his mind, he is already the President of the United States? either way, he does not look good.

Obama thinks we are stupid!

OBAMA AND ABORTION: Backtracking on the backtracking on late-term abortion. "Does he think we are idiots?" Thinks, hopes, whatever. And the above quote comes from someone who voted for Obama.

Obama, Reagan like...I don't think so.

My Goodness, now we need a guidebook to really understand where Obama stands on issues. Obama had mother of all flip flops this week.  Read more here and here and also read here to see how proud Obama is of his  flip flop flips!
But Obama insists that he has been very consistent on Iraq.  It all depends what he means by "consistent".
But again he reserve the right to "refine" his Iraqi plan after he visits Iraq later this month.  And on the way to Iraq, he will make another "speech" ( how many more speeches do we really need from Mr. Obama?) in Berlin in front of Brandenburg gate! Is he trying to copy Reagan, but Reagan did not have as many gaffes, flip flops and lies.  Reagan did not need to exaggerate his resume to come across presidential.

It's 4th of July and if you have not read Danesh D'Souza's book , What  So Great about America, you can do it here. Click.

Under Obama presidency we need to change our traditions!

In this video, Michelle visiting  San Juan, Puerto Rico. May 14, 2008 had this to say:
"Obama knows that when he get elected to be president, we are going to make sacrifices, we are going to change our converstaions, we are going to change our tradition and hisotry! We have to move to a different place!"

Change our traditions? to what exactly? to make sacrifices? What are they talking about? I hope the same sacrifices they made when they purchased their mansion with discounted rate.
He wants us to move a "different' place? where? please tell us  Mrs. O, don't leave us guessing.

They sure have a different plan for presidency. Lord help us!

Obama's continuing lies

Obama's gaffes have become blatant lies after lies.  I am glad this article mentions it, but where are big shot journalists? How come they are not asking Obama about his exaggerations?
Mr. Obama's ads show he's aware of his vulnerability on two fronts: his liberal values and his meager achievements. Yet he should be more cautious with these weaknesses. His bio ad says he was raised with "values straight from the Kansas heartland," though he grew up in Hawaii. He claims to have passed three bills, but fails to mention that two were in the Illinois state Senate and that he didn't vote on the third in the U.S. Senate. His new ad praises welfare reform, yet he opposed the legislation when a Republican Congress passed and President Clinton signed it.

What can't we say about Obama!

On May 16, Limbaugh delivered a monologue on what you can’t say about Obama:

“With Obama we started out, we couldn’t talk about his big ears ’cause that made him nervous. We’ve gone from that to this: Not only can we not mention his ears, we can’t talk about his mother. We can’t talk about his father. We can’t talk about his grandmother unless he does, brings her up as a ‘typical white person.’ We can’t talk about his wife, can’t talk about his preacher, can’t talk about his terrorist friends, can’t talk about his voting record, can’t talk about his religion. We can’t talk about appeasement. We can’t talk about color; we can’t talk about lack of color. We can’t talk about race. We can’t talk about bombers and mobsters who are his friends. We can’t talk about schooling. We can’t talk about his name, ‘Hussein.’ We can’t talk about his lack of experience. Can’t talk about his income. Can’t talk about his flag pin. This started out we can’t call him a liberal. It started out we just couldn’t talk about his ears. Now we can’t say anything about him.”
